Teaching

I am an enthusiastic and patient teacher based in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire. I cater for all ability levels from beginners to advanced students, so no prior musical experience is needed. I teach both adults and children (from about year 2 onwards, depending on the size and maturity of the child). I am passionate that learning the harp should be a fun and exciting experience.
I ensure all of my students develop a strong technique, so that the sky is the limit for their progression, whilst having fun exploring a variety of musical genres. The result being happy and motivated students. I incorporate music theory into my harp teaching in a relevant and engaging way to develop students' understanding of the music they are learning, whilst encouraging creativity and fostering a love for music. As an experienced performer myself, I have real-world experience that informs my teaching, meaning that my students are able to develop the skills they need to achieve their goals in music, whether that is playing for personal enjoyment or a career in music.
I teach both lever and pedal harp and can advise students and parents on the best harp for their circumstances (either to rent or to buy), once the student has committed to learning the harp. Beginner students usually start on a lever harp, which is much smaller and more affordable than a pedal harp and students can later choose to transition to a pedal harp if desired.
I teach private lessons in person at my home in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire, where harps are provided for lessons. Please don't hesitate to get in touch for more information. I look forward to helping you commence your harp journey!
